State which ports and functions you tested. Explain whether battery runtime is measured, estimated or unknown, and show cosmetic damage.
Prepare a private handover
Back up what you need and follow the manufacturer's account-removal and data-erasure instructions. Include the correct charger and arrange an inspection.
Make similar-looking laptops easy to compare
Two laptops with the same branding may have very different processors, memory and storage. Include those details in text so buyers do not have to read a photograph of a settings screen. Avoid screenshots containing your name, email, serial number or account details.
Check the keyboard, trackpad, display, webcam, speakers, Wi-Fi, charging and any ports you can test. Describe a fault even if it only happens occasionally. Do not promise suitability for demanding games or software you have not tested.
Separate preparing the advert from erasing the device
Record the specification and take useful photographs before removing your data. Keep a backup somewhere other than the laptop you are selling. Deleting a few files is not the same as completing the manufacturer's erasure process.
If the laptop belongs to an employer or still has organisation management, resolve ownership and removal with the organisation before offering it for sale. Let buyers know whether a charger is original or a replacement and whether any software is actually transferable.
