Replacing an appliance? Start with a clear advert

Sell Used Appliances in Ireland

Whether you are upgrading a washing machine or clearing a spare kitchen appliance, buyers need to know what works, what fits and how to collect it. Advertise your item for free with accurate details rather than promising a condition you have not checked.

Free standard listing. Optional paid promotion. Buyers contact you directly; you agree payment and handover.

A direct selling plan

Prepare a useful advert in three steps

01

Read the model label

Record the model and measure width, height and depth. Explain whether the item is freestanding, integrated or requires particular fittings.

02

Describe its working condition

Mention the last time it was used, what was tested, known faults and missing parts. Include clear photos rather than only a manufacturer image.

03

Agree removal and collection

Say whether it is disconnected and ready to collect. Arrange any specialist disconnection or installation appropriately; do not promise it as part of the sale unless agreed.

Lead with fit and working condition

An integrated dishwasher and a freestanding dishwasher are not interchangeable simply because their widths match. Describe the installation type and any furniture panels or fittings included. Let buyers confirm suitability for their own space.

Avoid 'works perfectly' when you have only switched the appliance on. Explain what was actually checked and disclose intermittent errors, leaks, unusual sounds or cosmetic damage. Do not invent energy ratings or capacity figures; use the manufacturer's label if available.

Distinguish selling from disposal

A functioning unwanted appliance and an unsafe appliance need different handling. Do not advertise an item as suitable for use if you know it is unsafe. Check the relevant manufacturer information before deciding whether a sale is appropriate.

Collection arrangements should say who disconnects the item, who moves it and what access is available. Follow the manufacturer's transport guidance and use appropriate help rather than asking a buyer to improvise removal on arrival.

Example wording, not a real listing

Replace the placeholders and example details with facts about your own item.

What your advert should include

  • Brand, exact model and dimensions.
  • Age if known, operating condition and known faults.
  • Shelves, trays, hoses, fittings or manuals included.
  • Whether it is disconnected, drained and accessible for collection.
  • Collection locality, stairs and transport responsibilities.

Common seller questions

Do I need to offer installation?

No. State what is and is not included. Buyers and sellers should arrange suitable help for disconnection, transport and installation rather than assuming these are included.

Can I list an appliance I have not tested?

Be explicit that it is untested and explain what you know. Do not use a working-condition description that you cannot support or offer an unsafe item for normal use.

Can I give away a usable appliance instead?

Choose the free price option if you genuinely want no payment. Describe condition and collection requirements just as clearly as for a paid item.
